It happens that with the installation of the RES source, companies cannot use the energy they produce. We present the situation of one of the customers who, despite the biogas plant, could not use it as their own RES source due to the long distance from the factories. Thanks to cooperation with RES, our platform and the signing of relevant contracts, the biogas plant has become the main source of RES for the company. Completed with photovoltaics, it gave 83% coverage of the entire demand and nearly 60% savings! How did we do that?
In mid-2022 we prepared an offer to buy green energy in the cPPA formula, for a customer in the meat processing industry. In search of a low-carbon electricity source to power its plants, he asked RESOS for support. We obtained the characteristics of electricity consumption in the Client's facilities for the past 12 months, and on this basis we created a profile with an accuracy of up to 15 minutes to select the appropriate source of electricity. The customer's annual demand was about 8 GWh, and the electricity consumption profile was flat, i.e. with similar consumption over the day. This is due to the characteristics of the work - in a 3-shift system.
Another location included a biogas plant owned by the Customer, which also had a flat power production profile. Since it was not near the factories, it was not possible to use this energy to satisfy autoconsumers. The produced energy was sold to one of the large energy companies at a price lower than the customer's purchase price, taken from the network.
One of the criteria of cooperation was the need to use energy produced in a biogas plant for the needs of factories. The cost of producing energy from its own source, the Client calculated PLN 300 for 1MWh. We obtained the production profile of this source and used it to prepare a number of analyses in the OZEOS analytical platform.
The platform, in addition to the biogas production profile, selected an additional RES source so that the level of covering the demand of the factories by green energy was as high as possible. Thanks to the possibilities offered by the RES platform, a comprehensive comparative analysis was created, which included an external photovoltaic source in the mix generating 3.1 GWh of green energy per year and the production of energy from a biogas plant. The analysis selected sources that meet the Client's demand of nearly 7GWh, making up 83% of total consumption. The electricity shortage of 1.4 GWh is purchased on the market on the next day SPOT and the surplus of 2.8 GWh sold at stock prices.
The whole process required a number of actions - from contract negotiations to the selection of a trade balance offer. Each of the stages was carried out with the support of OZEOS.
What benefits does this bring to the Client? - says Grzegorz Szuder, Director of Development in RESOOS:
- Our Client received a price of 1,300 PLN/MWh from his current electricity seller. To calculate the savings, we accepted hourly prices from the next day's market on TGE. Thanks to our platform, the Client can save up to PLN 6 million per year. If the price of energy offered by the seller were accepted, the cost for this period would be almost PLN 11 million. Thanks to the use of energy from RES and the proposed mix, The customer will pay about PLN 4.5 million for energy, which in his case will save almost 60%!i>
