Energy procurement strategy: plan the model, timing and risk
Want to plan your energy costs and future purchases more effectively? OZEOS will help determine when to buy, how much volume to hedge and which pricing structure to use. We will adapt the strategy to your company’s operating patterns, budget and risk profile.
What does an energy procurement strategy provide?
A strategy structures decisions before you select an offer and sign a contract. It defines how you procure energy, for what period and under which rules.
It allows you to assess the impact of energy procurement on your budget. You know what share of the price has already been fixed and what share remains market-linked. You also have a plan for upcoming procurement windows.
Where do we begin?
We examine how much energy you consume and when you need it. We take into account seasonality, existing contracts and planned changes to your operations.
Together with your team, we establish the priorities:
- cost predictability and budget capacity,
- the acceptable level of exposure to price movements,
- the procurement horizon and contract expiry dates,
- renewable energy goals.
These assumptions help us assess the available options and select the right direction.
How do we select the procurement model and timing?
We compare fixed-price and variable SPOT-market pricing, tranche purchases and models that combine several pricing structures. We also assess options for procuring energy from renewable energy producers through PPA and cPPA agreements.
We monitor the market daily and assess current trends against professional power price forecasts for the years ahead. On this basis, we recommend when to buy and how to divide the required energy volume between successive purchasing decisions. We show what each option means for cost and risk.
We work with both energy buyers and producers, so we understand both sides of the market. When procuring renewable energy, we compare your demand profile with the output of the relevant installation and the proposed contract terms.
What do you receive from OZEOS?
You receive a recommended model, a procurement plan and clear rules for future decisions. We compare scenarios and identify the assumptions that determine their outcomes.
We support your team in comparing offers, selecting a supplier and carrying out the procurement process. If you choose a PPA or cPPA, we remain involved in managing the contract after it has been signed. The strategy reflects both your company’s requirements and the options available on the market.
