Support for investments in renewable energy from water in Poland in 2025
New legal regulations and available subsidies in Poland for 2025 significantly favour investment in renewable energy from water. They focus on administrative facilitation and financial support for zero-emission technologies. Major changes include simplification of procedures, reducing the time allowed to build RES installations, thereby speeding up the implementation of projects. In addition, preferential loans and grant schemes have been introduced to promote investment in renewable energy of which of water.
The main source of support for the construction of hydroelectric power plants is the Energy for the Village 2025 programme. It offers grants covering up to 45% of eligible costs and up to 65% for micro and small entrepreneurs. This programme includes water plants with a capacity of 10 kW to 1 MW for farmers, as well as up to 10 MW for cooperatives and larger operators. In addition to grants, loans covering up to 100% of eligible costs are also available, with a limit of up to PLN 25 million per beneficiary.
In order to benefit from the scheme, certain formal conditions and the sustainability of the project concerning renewable energy from water for a minimum of 5 years after its completion.
